More than 20 top allies of President
William Ruto, including three governors, MPs, and senators, have drummed up
support for a second term for him, saying he has done a lot for the country
since he took over.
They argue that Ruto is on course
to prove his critics wrong because all the programmes he has initiated are being implemented to the benefit of Kenyans.
Governors Jonathan Bii of Uasin
Gishu, Abdi Guyo of Isiolo, and Jeremiah Lomurukai of Turkana, along with
parliamentary chief whip Sylvanus Osoro and Laikipia MP Mwangi Kiunjuri, outlined Ruto’s successes at three meetings they attended at Kapsaos in Uasin
Gishu, Likuyani in Kakamega, and in Nandi County.
Also present were Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet and her Nandi counterpart Cynthia Muge, among other leaders.
Guyo said they fully stand behind
Ruto because of his good performance, including in counties in the North Eastern, which were now benefiting from modern infrastructure.
“Those mocking President Ruto because of the work he is doing on projects like roads are jealous and will not be ashamed,” he said.

He said politics in 2027 will be
about those who want to unite the country, led by Ruto, and those who are after
divisions and tribalism.
Farouk said Kenyans should focus
on peace, unity, and development and avoid those who spread tribalism.
Lomurukai said Ruto would win a
second term with a landslide because of his good work and the unity he has
cultivated among Kenyans.
Governor Bii cited Ruto’s ongoing visit to China, which he said would be an economic game-changer for the country.

“If you look at the benefits of
such a trip by the president, it’s immense in key sectors, especially
infrastructure, and for sure, the president means well for this country,” said
Bii.
Osoro spoke at length on those who
always opposed and criticised Ruto’s work, noting that the actions were based on
malice and jealousy.
Nominated MP Joseph Wainaina and
Kiunjuri said tribalism had no place in the country and that Ruto had worked
hard to unite the country through a broad-based government.
“We should thank the President for uniting all Kenyans in the government,” said Wainaina, who spoke at Kapsaos, where the leaders raised over Sh11 million to help women’s groups.

Other MPs present included Benard
Shinali of Ikolomani, Emmanuel Wangwe of Navakholo, Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, Vihiga Women Rep Beatrice Adagala, and a host
of MCAs and businessmen.
Kiunjuri said President Ruto was
recently well-received in Mt Kenya, which indicates that he enjoyed support in
the region.
The president had worked hard to ensure the economy is stable with good prices at manageable levels.
