Help us market our avocados, Vihiga disabled asks county

Say producing fruits with no market will be a waste of time and resources.

People with disabilities want the Vihiga government to help them market their avocados once they mature.

Led by nominated MCA Joyce Amayodi, they said producing those fruits with no market would be a waste of time and resources.

"We are just requesting the county government of Vihiga to help us get a market for those avocados or set up a factory within the county where we can be supplying the fruits," she said.

The nominated MCA was speaking on her farm where she was planting avocado seedlings donated by Tessie Mudavadi through Ahadi Kenya.

The Ahadi Kenya foundation donated 3,000 avocado seedlings to boost  food security and help the beneficiaries generate income.

Ahadi Kenya Trust CEO Stanley Kamau said there is need to empower people with disability to become independent.

"There is a need to work as a team to ensure we support these people with disability so they can be independent," Kamau said.

"We urge the Vihiga government to ensure there is enough security to secure the goods of people with disabilities."

He said most people vandalise property and farm produce of people with disabilities because they are vulnerable.
