Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has told off Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli after the trade unionist said he was looking for public offices for some Azimio leaders.

Raila said those who want to join the government are free to do so but he will remain in the opposition to keep the government in check and fight for the Kenyans overburdened by the high cost of living.

The opposition chief further told Atwoli to champion the rights of the workers instead of being cosy with President William Ruto's administration.

"Tell the President the challenges the workers are facing in this country under the current economic situation," Odinga said.

He said Atwoli should be the one telling workers to go on the streets and fight for their rights, not the political class.

The Cotu secretary-general said he is currently looking for an office for some of the Azimo leaders.

'Mimi natafuta ofisi niweke hawa wakina Oparanya huko," Atwoli said.

Atwoli said the opposition must accept that they lost the elections.

However, Raila maintained that Azimio is the biggest coalition in the country with a large number of MPs, senators, governors and MCAs.

"In Western and Nyanza regions we have governors in Busia, Vihiga Kakamega, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira. We also have senators and they have their office," Odinga said.
