Bumula Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Wamboka has offered a full scholarship to 20 bright students from his constituency to join schools of their choice.

The underprivileged students performed extremely well in the national examination in 2023.

Wamboka said the 20 students were stranded at home due to a lack of school fees to join the schools they had been called to.

In addition, the MP also handed them over Sh10,000 for shopping.

Addressing the press in Bungoma on Monday after handing the students cheques for school fee payment, Wamboka stated the great improvement in the 2023 KCPE exams in his constituency prompted him to sponsor the students.

Wamboka said the 20 students he supported are scheduled to join National and Extra County schools.

“The 20 students I have picked today will be on the scholarship until they complete their four years’ studies and I will do a follow-up to the University,” Wamboka said.

The MP said he would also liaise with other sponsors to ensure that the students get admission to university after high school.

Wamboka attributed the stellar performance in the constituency to his lunch pilot programme in schools affirming that this year he will distribute more.

“My lunch programme launch has yielded fruits because in recent years Bumula used to be the worst performing constituency but through this, we have moved to number two,” the DAP MP said.

He also urged parents in his constituency to apply for the NG-CDF bursary scheme that will close on Friday.

“Despite the NG-CDF disbursement by the National Treasury I must ensure that students from school report to school in time,” he said.

“ I’m doing so to ensure that in future Bumula gets all kinds of professionals."
