Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has dismissed the proposal for the creation of a National Multi-Sectoral Forum (NMSF) to address the concerns of youth terming the move a waste of time.

President William Ruto has moved to address the concerns of youth who are dissatisfied with the state of the country’s affairs.

Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei on Saturday kicked off the process initiating a national dialogue to look into the concerns of the youth.

In his address on Wednesday, Ruto announced that a National Multi-Sectoral Forum (NMSF) would be constituted to engage with all stakeholders in addressing concerns raised by the youth.

However, Osotsi says the Gen-Zs have no leaders who the President wants to meet.

The lawmaker said the youth have raised issues they want to be addressed and asked the government to implement them.

“The Gen Zs are leaderless and cannot be coerced into identifying a leader who will dialogue with Ruto's administration,” Osotsi said.

This is even as President Ruto expressed his willingness to engage with young people on X Space.

This follows calls from Kenyans, particularly Gen Z, on various social media platforms, who have stated that if any dialogue is to occur with the government, it should be held on X space.

In a roundtable media interview on Sunday, the President said he is ready to discuss any issues they may have.

"I am hearing that the young people are saying we don’t want a multisectoral forum, maybe we should have an engagement with the President on X. I am open to having an engagement with the young people on a forum they are comfortable with. If they want me to engage with them on X, I will be there," he said.

"I want us to discuss taxation, I want us to discuss unemployment, corruption, and all issues."

However, Osotsi says youths want issues of corruption, funding of selected offices, punitive taxation, housing levy and joblessness among others issues to be addressed.
