Busia Governor Paul Otuoma has barred County Executive Committee Members, chief officers, and directors from travelling outside the county for the next 20 days starting today.

Otuoma said the move will ensure the officers are readily available to respond to any audit queries and provide necessary documentation when required.

A team of auditors is on a working tour in the county and may require information from the administrators, the governor said.

He said the exercise will improve compliance and reduce cases of audit queries at the Senate.

The governor tasked departmental heads to be accountable and give credible reports on audits and financial processes.

Otuoma expressed his commitment to financial accountability and proper use of resources to ensure the residents get value for their money.

The audit exercise will run for 15 working days from Tuesday, September 3 to September 23, 2024.
