Chaos rock Kibera after Ruto declared President-elect

• It is reported that crowds had gathered from around  3pm to hear the results after a 6 day wait.

• This comes after IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati announced Ruto as the President-elect.

Kibera residents protest.

Shortly after the announcement of William Ruto as the President-elect, riots erupted in Kibera at around 6.10 pm.

Youths were captured on the streets lighting up tires, barricading the road,  blocking motorists and vehicles as others chanted in protest.

Other locals stood aside and watched.

It is reported that crowds had gathered from around  3pm to hear the results after a 6 days of wait.

Protests at Kibra after the Azimio Candidate Raila Odinga lost the August 9,2022 general elections on August 15,2022

President-elect Ruto had garnered 7,176,141 votes beating closest rival Raila Odinga who got 6,942,930 votes.

Kibera is perceived to be ODM leader Raila Odinga's political bastion.
