Shabana FC head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo is concerned about his squad’s fitness following a string of injuries.

Nine first-team players have been ruled out due to illnesses and injuries.

“It is challenging for us to make long-term plans in this situation. Some players are hurt while others are still recovering from a severe case of the flu,” he said.

Nevertheless, he expressed confidence in his charges’ ability to contend for the Premier League title after returning from a two-week Fifa International break.

Omollo stressed the value of aiming for the most points possible ahead of their KPL Round Five match-up with Mara Sugar on Saturday.

“The Fifa break came at the right time for us. It allowed us to rest, recover and work on our strategies. Now that we are back, we are ready to take on any challenge that comes our way,” he said.

Omollo stressed the importance of taking the game seriously and focused on securing a win.

“Mara are tough opponents. They have a good team and we know it won’t be an easy game. But we are confident that our preparation has been solid, and we will do our best to claim all three points.”

The tactician added that his team is focused on achieving their target of charging for the Kenyan Premier League title this season.

“We have a strong squad, and we believe in our abilities. We are determined to fight for the title until the end,” he said.

Shabana, currently 12th on the log, have amassed two points after wringing out two consecutive draws.

He believes that their decent start to the season puts them in a strong position to challenge for the title.

“We have been consistent in our performances this season. We have picked up important points and that has given us confidence. We hope to continue our good run and climb up the table.”

He praised his players for their dedication and hard work, which he believes is key to their success.

“ The players have put in a lot of effort,” he said.

"They are committed and hungry for success. They are ready for the challenges that lie ahead.”
