KNEC assessment tests for CBC pupils are underway with the pupils taking their practical subjects.

According to the KNEC timetable, all practical subjects are to be submitted by September 16.

"Schools will be able to access Grade 4, 5 and 6 practical subjects from July 18 to August 15, and should be uploaded by September 16," the timetable reads.

They include art and craft, music, agriculture, science and technology, social studies, physical and health education and home science.

Grades 4,5 and 6 pupils sit school-based assessments, which account for 40 per cent of the summative assessment.

On August 15, the Council opened its placement portal to grade 6 learners to select Junior Secondary Schools.

It is expected to close on August 30.

Education CS George Magoha said the pupils can apply for both public and private schools.

"Parents shall meet the cost of learning in private schools as is the usual practice," he added.

Magoha is still commissioning classrooms in secondary schools for the program.

On Wednesday, he commissioned CBC classrooms at Muhuri Muchiri Secondary School in Njiru, Nairobi.

According to the ministry of Education, 2.57 million students will be enrolled for Grade 6 and Form 1 during the double intake in January.
