President William Ruto on Tuesday signed a joint declaration on climate and development partnership with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The meeting was held in Shamar El Sheikh, Egypt on the sidelines of the meeting of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change (COP-27).
"Kenya recognises that devolved climate finance is a meaningful and effective driver of change in communities," Ruto said.
"We thank the German Government for agreeing to generously scale up our action against the negative effects of climate change at the local level."
Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Alfred Mutua was also present during the signing.
The head of state left the country for Egypt on Sunday.
Ruto addressed the United Nation's annual climate change summit in Egypt on Monday.
He was speaking on behalf of Kenya and the African Group present at the conference.
