PS nominees appear before various committees for vetting

Vetting was expected to end on Friday before the court stopped the process.

    The Parliament on Tuesday carried out vetting of the Principal Secretaries.

    The nominees appeared before the various committees of the National Assembly to defend their suitability for the job.

    They included Trade PS nominee Alfred K'Ombundo, State department for Investment PS nominee Abubakar Hassan, Blue Economy and Irrigation PS nominee Betsy Muthoni and PS nominee state department for performance and delivery Management Esther Ngero.

    Diaspora Affairs PS nominee Roseline Njogu, Foreign Affairs PS nominee Dr. Korir Sing'oei, State department for Irrigation PS nominee Gitonga Mugambi and Defence PS nominee Patrick Mariru.

    Others are State Department of East African Community PS Nominee Abdi Dubart, State Department for Cooperatives nominee Patrick Kilemi 

    The vetting which begun on Monday, was expected to end on Friday before the Employment and Lands Court stopped the vetting.

    The order was issued by Justice Nzioka Wa Makau on a case filed by the Law Society of Kenya on grounds of imbalance in the list.

    "A conservatory order is hereby issued restraining and barring the National Assembly from receiving or if already received, barring the processing, vetting or in any way proceeding or processing the nomination for appointment of the 51 nominees as PSs," it reads.
