President William Ruto on Saturday visited the Kisumu shipyard during his second day of his tour of the larger Nyanza region.
The visit started on Friday where he launched several development projects in Homa Bay county including affordable housing project.
The head of state met with Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o with whom he had discussions on the development of the Kisumu Port.
"We are committed to exploiting the full potential of the Kisumu Port that stands to change the economic fortunes of the East African region," Ruto said.
Ruto inspected the ongoing activities at the shipyard, including the renovation of the MV Uhuru I linkspan, which is at its advanced stage.
It is an important installation that allows for the loading and unloading of wagons.
The President was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
