Kenyans on Monday turned up to celebrate World Condoms Day by sensitising the public on the importance of using protection.

Students from Mount Kenya University displayed male and female condoms demonstrating how they are used.

They held placards with words written "Safer love is sexy".

Condoms act as a physical barrier to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

By using condoms partners help reduce diseases like gonorrhea, Chlamydia and HIV/AIDS among other diseases.

Apart from preventing STIs, condoms prevent about 98 per cent of pregnancies when used correctly.

For sexually active partners, they are required to put on a new condom every single time they engage in sexual activities.
