German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is in the country for an official state visit.
He arrived at State House, Nairobi on Friday for a meeting with President William Ruto.
Before a closed door meeting, Scholz inspected a guard of honor
He makes a return to Africa for a three-day trip that will see him visit Ethiopia and Kenya.
The two are discussing areas touching on renewable energies, as Germany is considering Kenya to be a key economic partner.
Scholz who is accompanied by various dignitaries has also been scheduled to visit the geothermal power plant in Naivasha.
He will later visit the Africa Union (AU) offices, the focus being regional and international security.
