A number of National Youth Service officers were on Wednesday injured during the anti-government protests. 

At least five NYS officers sought treatment at the Eagle Nursing Home in Kangemi, Nairobi.

They appeared to have injured their arms and legs.

The demos also left at least 13 people injured.

The NYS personnel had been deployed to sections of Nairobi streets to help contain planned anti-government protests.

They were armed with batons patrolling streets but were accompanied by armed police.
