President William Ruto has walked the talk that Sagana State Lodge will be opened for everyone. On Wednesday, he hosted two Maumau freedom fighters at the lodge.
Together with his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Ruto hosted General Mathenge's Mirugu's wife ( Miriam Muthoni) and Field Marshal Muthoni Kirima.
Mathenge was among the brave Africans who started the Mau Mau rebellion in the 1950s together with Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi who was later hanged.
After the rebellion collapsed, Mathenge vanished into the wilderness near the Ethiopian border. He is presumed dead.
In April 2022, field marshal Muthoni wa Kirima shaved her dreadlocks.
She said the signature dreadlocks that flowed past her waist were a valuable reminder of her sacrifice for the country even after Kenya gained independence in 1963.
The locks that she has had since 1952 were shaved by Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the wife of Kenya's first President Jomo Kenyatta.
