The downpour-pounding Nairobi has always exposed the city's poor drainage system.

Even without rains,  drainage systems within Nairobi are either filled with illegally dumped garbage, and stagnant water or are clear - an indication of no running water.

To address the issue, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja on Monday launched the El Nino marshal plan.

Atleast 3,500  Nairobi youths have been contracted to clean the capital as the city anticipates El Nino rains.

The impending El Niño has raised concerns about potential floods, landslides, and other natural disasters that could impact our vibrant city.

In response to this looming threat, Nairobi City County has devised a comprehensive disaster management plan to address the anticipated impacts and support the citizens in responding effectively to the crisis.
