Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday evening spent time with his neighbours children at his Mathira home.
"On arrival at my rural home in Mathira, Nyeri County, this evening, I was elated to receive a most hearty welcome from my neighbours' loving and charming children," Gachagua said.
According to the DP, it was fulfilling listening to the children who are his neighbours sharing moral lessons with each other, besides core community values encapsulated in the tales.
Gachagua later shared a meal with the children before they dispersed to their homes.
"I gladly invited them to the house; we had a great time telling each other stories. It was so much fun as they fell over themselves to narrate to me their best folk stories," he said.
"I had to also narrate the folk stories that I could remember as rendered by my grandmother - more than 50 years ago."
Gachagua passed by his home following a weekend tour of the Mt Kenya region.
