Kenyans from across the country braved the heavy rainfall which has resulted in floods.

Some areas including Buna, Griftu, Eldas and parts of Mombasa were affected.

Red Cross personnel came to the rescue of residents to help save animals and their belongings from being swept by the floods.

The Kenya Red Cross said heavy rains experienced in Mandera have displaced 5,000 families.

Mandera North and Mandera East remain the most affected following the heavy rains that led to river Dauwa bursting its banks and flooding all nearby homesteads.

Mandera County Kenya Red Cross Society coordinator Mustafa Adan said the numbers are likely to rise as the rains continue to pound the area.
