Gaming enthusiasts on Thursday gathered at a gaming symposium to showcase their talents.

The Nairobi Comic Convention (NAICCON), a platform for African creatives in the digital arts brought together over 2,500 Kenyan gamers at the Sarit Centre on November 20, 2023.

A proud representative of Madagascar Tsiaro Mampiarina Manuela etched her name in the annals of e-sports history by claiming the title at the first-ever Female Swahili E-sports Championships in Africa.

The event also saw youngsters who adore superheroes take part while dressed in costumes depicting their superheroes as their favourite animation characters.

They enjoyed playing different sets of games including Scrabble, PlayStations, dice games and Snake and Ladders. 

Sports and Culture CS Ababu Namwamba emphasised the need for the country to explore the creative economy to create opportunities for young people.

"This burgeoning economy could become a critical contributor to Kenya's GDP. The nation is headed in the right direction with partners like the French Institute and NAICCON," he said.
