Defence CS Aden Duale on Friday held a familiarisation tour of the British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK) situated in Nanyuki.
Duale was accompanied by the British High Commissioner to Kenya Neil Wigan.
Also present were Commander Fourth Brigade, Brigadier Gula, Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy at the Defence Headquarters Brigadier Richard Mwanzia, BATUK Commander Colonel Andrew Wilde and other senior military officers from the two militaries.
Duale said the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between Kenya and the United Kingdom has cemented the relationship between the two countries, allowing for extensive and robust cooperation in the field of defence and security.
The latest DCA signed in 2021 was recently ratified by the National Assembly and acts as a firm foundation for current and future engagements between the two countries.
"BATUK activities are covered by the DCA, which governs defence engagements between the two countries and is managed through an annual Defence Ministerial Meeting and a biennial Inter-Governmental Liaison Committee (IGLC)," Duale said.
"The facility has allowed our troops to engage in capacity development through joint exercises, pre-deployment training for peacekeeping missions and other courses."
