President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday attended a ceremony staged to celebrate the Kalenjin rite of passage in Karen, Nairobi.
Among those who went through the cultural activity is the son of Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen.
Speaking about the event, Murkomen said the new initiates called the Maina age set are expected to greatly impact their generation.
"Four weeks ago we delivered them as boys and today we received men. Men of Maina age set and who are expected to impact their generation in a powerful way providing leadership and protection to the family and society," Murkomen said.
"We prayed for God’s guidance, protection, wisdom and providence. We look forward to a promising future with the positive values inherited from our forefathers being harnessed and modernized to guide generations to come."
Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro and Deputy Chief of Staff Josephat Nanok were also present.
