The President said Wanga had demonstrated leadership by being the first governor to collaborate with the Kenya Kwanza government for affordable housing.

Ruto also hailed Wanga saying she is among three other county bosses who have successfully applied for the national government licence for Special Economic Zones.

"I want to thank Governor Wanga because she is the best example of excellent collaboration between the national government and counties on affordable housing," he said.

President William Ruto on Tuesday joined Governors and other leaders at the Homa Bay International Investment Conference.

The three-day event is set to take place from February 27th to 29th, 2024, and aims to draw both international and local investors to tap into the county's investment potential. 

Homa Bay County, with 80 percent of Lake Victoria within its borders, also foresees a surge in tourism once investment opportunities are realized.

In preparation for the event, pre-investment conferences were conducted in Homa Bay town and other major towns across the country.

President Ruto lauded Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga's leadership, saying she has set the tone for counties' collaboration with the national government.
