The International Women's Day was marked worldwide on Friday, March 8, 2024 under the theme 'Invest in Women'.

The global day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The symbol for this day is the female gender sign of a circle on top of a cross in purple, green and white colours.

According to the International Women's Day, purple stands for dignity and justice, green for hope, and white for purity.

To mark the day, Radio Africa Group also held an empowerment Women Summit which was attended by leaders from various sectors including Wealth and Insurance in Financial Services team leader at Safaricom Aliya Khanbhai.

The United Nations designated 2024's theme as 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress' with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment.

The campaign theme for this year was 'Inspire Inclusion'.

The aim of the theme was to inspire people and understand the value of including women.
