President William Ruto on Friday presided over the commissioning of the Lariak Forest Wildlife Electric Fence, Laikipia County.
He was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua among other leaders.
The President also launched the human-wildlife conflict mitigation and compensation scheme.
Ruto promised to construct a 100 km long electric fence to prevent the wild animals from encroaching into human territory.
He said this will help prevent human-animal conflicts.
The President directed the ministry to map all areas which require fencing including forests, to facilitate fencing in the next five years.
