Interior CS Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday chaired the second quarterly meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Financing Inter-Ministerial Committee.
In a meeting held at Harambee House, Kindiki said the government is continuously monitoring financial inflows to protect the country from the harm of money laundering and terrorism financing.
This is in line with the obligations of the Prevention of Terrorism Act of Kenya and various United Nations Security Council Treaties, as well as resolutions on the prevention of terrorism and terrorism financing.
Present at the meeting were Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, Prof Njuguna Ndung'u (CS National Treasury and Economic Planning), Justin Muturi (Attorney General), and Dr Kamau Thugge (Governor, Central Bank of Kenya).
Inspector General Japhet Koome, Dr Rosalind Nyawira (Director, National Counter Terrorism Centre) and Saitoti Maika (Director General, Financial Reporting Centre) were also present.
