[PHOTOS] Police deployed in Eldoret ahead of demos

A contingent of police officers have been deployed in Eldoret town and its environs ahead of the planned peaceful demonstrations for Tuesday.

Photos obtained by the Star show at least 18 police vehicles including land cruisers and lorries patrolling the city.

A number of businesses, however, remain closed.

Last weeks, protests saw a huge number of youths take to the streets in the town that is a stronghold of President William Ruto.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has called for calm.
