The Nairobi Central Business District was on Tuesday characterised by heavy police presence.

The streets were deserted amid fears protests could be held.

A spot-check by the Star showed police patrol both on foot and by vehicles in various streets in the CBD.

The way to the City Hall was also blocked by a police truck.

Reports on social media indicated that there were plans to hold 'occupy CBD' demos.
