Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) implemented heightened security measures on Tuesday ahead of Gen-Z protests.
A diversion has been created for vehicles entering the airport, and traffic flow has been significantly reduced.
Police officers are visibly present at the JKIA checkpoint, conducting thorough inspections.
This comes after threats by youths to occupy the airport as part of their planned demonstrations on Tuesday.
However, Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja warned that JKIA is a protected area and anyone who will dare trespass will be dealt with according to the law.
He explained that the Protected Areas Act Cap 204 Laws of Kenya prevents the entry of unauthorised persons into areas which have been declared to be protected areas.
"The Service reiterates that protected areas are out of bounds to unauthorised persons as indicated in Protected Areas Act Cap 204 laws of Kenya.
"Further all unauthorised persons are hereby warned not to trespass protected areas."
The airport's heightened security reflects the broader concerns about potential disruptions to businesses and daily life in Nairobi.
