Newly appointed Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat of Kenya Police Service and his Adminstration Police Service counterpart Gilbert Masengeli Friday met President William Ruto.

The meeting was held at Mombasa State Lodge after the two took the oath of office.

The 2 were sworn in, in a brief ceremony held at the Supreme Court and presided over by Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya Martha Koome.

During the meeting, Ruto asked the new police chiefs to uphold professionalism and integrity in dispensing their duties.

The President said that the government will equip and modernize the police to increase efficiency in discharging their duties.

"I urge you to uphold professionalism and integrity in your duties," President Ruto said

"The Government pledges to support the Police in equipping and modernising it to increase its efficiency in discharging its duties." 

Also present is former DIG  Douglas Kanja who Ruto nominated as the next Inspector General of Police.
