Masengeli addressed the media following the meeting.

He however declined to comment on the court case he is facing.

Masengeli had been asked if he would appear in court after Justice Lawrence Mugambi on Friday said he should do so.

Mugambi ordered that the acting IG submit himself to the commissioner general of prisons for a six-month imprisonment for contempt of court.

Mugambi however said Masengeli may avoid serving the sentence if he appears in court within the next seven days.

"The acting Inspector General Masengeli can redeem himself by availing himself before this court in person to answer to the issues which he has been avoiding failure to do so the sentence will take effect," the Judge said.
