President William Ruto presided over the installation of Douglas Kanja as the Inspector General on Thursday.
In a colourful event held at State House, Kanja was officially handed over the National Police Service flag.
Other leaders from various police departments were also present.

He was sworn in hours after President William Ruto appointed him to the position.
The President said he has faith in his capability in providing leadership to the National Police Service.
"The rule of law is the bedrock of our democracy. We must obey and submit to it for the stability of our country. We will continue supporting our security agencies to keep Kenya safe and secure," he said.
"In Mr Kanja, we have a seasoned leader; a disciplined career police officer, and a dedicated Kenyan."
This marks the beginning of his tenure as the fifth IG of police under the 2010 Constitution.
