THE International Criminal Court is collaborating with the Kenya School of Law and the Law Society of Kenya to inform Kenyan lawyers’ on international law.
“We have collaborated with the Kenya School of Law and the Law Society of Kenya to build the lawyers' capacity on the international law so that they can closely work with the court,”
ICC outreach coordinator Maria Kamara
said.
She said they are determined to continue engaging communities in Kenya on the ongoing cases at The Hague.
Kamara was addressing lawyers in Kisumu yesterday.
She said that through the court’s outreach programme they will engage communities to make the court visible to them.
Kamara
said they are meeting members of the civil society, opinion leaders, journalists and lawyers during the programme.
She said the programme will continue in various parts of the country throughout the entire judicial process.
Kamara said there is need for the affected communities in Kenya, following the disputed 2007 general election, to get justice.
“We are doing this in a bid to hear the views and concerns of the victims,” she said.
