Ford Kenya officials from Nyanza have threatened to push their leader Moses Wetang'ula from the party for failing to convene a delegates meeting.

Led by Migori county chairman Samuel Migore, the officials said Wetang'ula has refused to convene a national council meeting or bring elections to the party.

They said these have been due since 2015.

"Wetang'ula has not been respecting the party and he should know that even if he is party leader, Ford Kenya does not belong to him," Migore said.

He said Ford Kenya does not have a national outlook since Wetang'ula is more concerned with working with officials from his 'Luhya backyard' than with officials and delegates.

“If he does not work with speed to put his house in order then we are going to remove him from the position,” Migore said.

He added: “We need a national outlook and he should work closely with all leaders who need to move forward with a single voice in 2017.”

His comments comes after the Bungoma Senator was given a one week ultimatum to prove his worth to Ford-Kenya, failure to which he will be axed.

Wetang'ula has been called out on various occasions by officials from his party.

Shortly after launching his presidential bid, officials drawn from Eastern, Nyanza and Rift Valley criticised Wetang'ula for 'failing to plan'.

Trans Nzoia county interim chairman Ken Wafula, speaking on behalf of the 30 officials, said the Bungoma senator has

"He has been campaigning only in Bungoma. He has not gone to other regions to woo voters. Does he want to be Bungoma president or Kenya's president?" Wafula asked.

The group said that in their view, Ford Kenya does not have a presidential candidate yet.

They further claimed that the party leader has been illegally and unlawfully appointing people to the National Executive Council (NEC).

Kisumu county vice chairman Felix Minda called for fresh elections in the party to get officials who are keen on making the party vibrant once again.
