Taita Taveta residents have told area leaders to sue Kwale and Makueni so as to end the unresolved boundary row between the three counties.
Whereas Kwale claims that its boundary with Taita Taveta is at Miasenyi - few Kilometers from Mackinnon Road town, the latter holds that her boundaries extend to Landi ya Mwembeni, near Taru town.
The county is also in another boundary row with Makueni county over a 65 kilometer stretch of land between Tsavo River and Mtito Andei.
The residents blamed politicians from the county who served in past regimes for lacking a goodwill to protect the county boundaries.
The issue emerged during a breakfast meeting convened by Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma at Dan Mwazo Hall in Voi on Thursday.
They urged the leaders to file a court injunction to stop revenue collection by either counties at the border towns of Mtito Andei and Mackinnon so as to force dialogue.
Emily Mbashu, a Voi resident, told the leaders to seek a court order barring creation of a new division at the disputed Mackinnon area.
"Rumors are that a new division under Kwale county is being created by hiving off some parts of Taita Taveta at Miasenyi and Mackinnon Road. We should seek legal avenues to stop that."
"We have tried different ways to claim back our land in vain and must now change our tactics," Mbashu said.
Wilson Mwang’ombe, chairman of the county boundary task force, asked the senator and MPs to engage the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and National Land Commission (NLC) on the matter.
He said the agencies should be compelled to redraft the disputed boundaries adding that the Mtito Andei boundary could easily be solved administratively by the two counties.
Wang'ombe revealed that the task force report had pointed out a serious dispute in the Kwale boundary at Mackinnon.
Senator Mwaruma said he would hold talks with his Kwale counterpart Boy Juma. They both serve in the Senate Committee on Lands.
He said that all elected leaders from the county shall hold a special meeting to deliberate on the best way to end the boundary dispute.
"I cannot solve this alone but I assure you that we shall have a collective effort to claim what is rightfully ours. We all know that parts of Mtito Andei are in Taita Taveta and not in Makueni as purported," Mwaruma said.
Last week, Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja assured residents that no single inch of land shall be lost to neighbouring counties.
