I am pleading to this House to give me justice. Some of you Senators will come here in the dock as Governors very soon.
Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu was heard pleading with senators over his impeachment trial in Senate.
"I was also an MP for two terms...however bad I might look politically or otherwise, I just beseech you to be fair," he said.
"Some of you here will be governors in 2022, you will also come here and you will require justice. I was in this compound for two terms as an MP. I am now back..."
Waititu said the Kenya's constitution guarantees fair hearing adding that he needs justice.
"I should be given justice, as a Kenyan, I should be given justice and that is why the constitution guarantees fair hearing and judgement."
"Listen to the facts and evidence but not propaganda. Kiambu is known for serious propagandist. It is my hope that you don't judge me based on that please!".
Noting that he was denied a chance at the county assembly to defend himself, he said he feared humiliation and sent his lawyers.
"They were never given a chance to give answers to the charges. All the answers are there with the sergeant at arms," he said.
"Politics did not stop when I got into office. They have been propaganda...bloggers have been paid to malign my name and it has gone to a level that they always get away with it."
MCAs accused Waititu of alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office and is now facing impeachment trial from the Senate.
The impeachment split Jubilee senators, with those allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta pushing for the upholding of the assembly’s decision while DP William Ruto’s supporters opposing it.
Waititu is appeared before all the 67 senators, alongside his accusers – the county assembly which voted to impeach in December.
The 67-member House would sit for two days — January 28 and 29.
Waititu, his wife Susan Wangari, and eight others are facing graft cases after being accused of irregularly awarding themselves Sh580 million tenders.
Waititu also faces charges of abuse of office by awarding tenders to get kickbacks.
