End of the Road for Digital Media House Hivisasa.

Hivisasa digital media house has come to an unforeseen close down due to a lack of reliable digital advertisement.

The closure has seen all of its 1,250 employees sent packing.

Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Chloé Spoerry on Wednesday announced that the platform despite growth in its audience and content has been unable to identify a viable advertisement-led business model.

"Despite growing its audience and impact, Hivisasa has, like many other publishers globally, been unable to identify a viable advertisement-led business model," she said.

"As a result, we have made the hard decision to close down the current model of local news production, in order to explore new ideas and opportunities. A special thank you to our brilliant and dedicated team, and to our loyal readers," she added.

The six-year-old online news provider has competitively made stories on Kenya’s counties and national politics.

Spoerry thanked Hivisasa news writers saying their work helped the online publisher grow a steady audience of two million monthly readers, with the highest recording of 6.1 million.
