The school principal Kimei William said the fire started around 8am when all the students were in assembly.

The principal said the level of destruction was very high although some of the personal items were salvaged.

 

"The housekeeper had just locked the house and there were no students at that time, " he said.

Tom Mboya dormitory which was burnt houses 164 students.

Nairobi county firefighter engines responded to the fire incident before causing more destruction.

Education PS Belio Kipsang visited the scene.

The cause of the fire is yet to be known but the school principal said it might have been caused by an electric fault.
