One dead, 15 injured in Machakos road accident

One person has died and 15 injured in a grisly road accident along Machakos-Kathiani road.

Machakos County emergency services department director David Mwongela said the 7pm accident involved two matatus.

"The matatus which were moving on different directions, collided head on at Kathiani in Ngiti Market near Iveti hills," he said.

According to Mwongela, one of the matatu drivers was unable to control the vehicle due to poor visibility in the area.

Those injured were given first aid before being rushed to hospital for further treatment.

Mwongela urged drivers to exercise caution on road to avert accidents.

Machakos County Commander Karanja Muiruri also confirmed the case adding that the wreckage was moved to Machakos police station.
