The pump price for Super Petrol in Nairobi has increased by Sh0.97 per litre in the latest review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
That of diesel and kerosene has also increased by Sh1.12 and Sh1.93 per litre respectively.
Until January 14, motorists will pay Sh106.82 for a litre of petrol in Nairobi, 91.82 for diesel and 83.56 for a litre of kerosene.
Petrol has increased from Sh105.85 a litre that it has retailed for in the past one month in Nairobi.
Diesel increased from Sh90.70 a litre while Kerosene, used for lighting and cooking by poor households, has shoot from from 81.63 a litre.
Newly appointed EPRA Acting director general in a statement on Monday said the changes in this month’s prices are as a result of the average landed cost of imported super petrol increasing by 0.65cper cent from $316.64 per cubic meter in October 2020 to $318.71 per cubic meter in November.
“Diesel increasing by 1.75 per cent from $288.83 to $293.88 per cubic meter and Kerosene increasing by 6.16 per cent from $261.17 per cubic meter to $277.27 per cubic meter,” Kiptoo said.
Over the same period, the mean monthly US Dollar to Kenya Shilling exchange rate depreciated by 1.12 per cent from Sh109.14 per dollar in October to Sh110.36 in November.
