The directors of Amaan Gas Limited have been summoned to appear in court to face criminal charges of trading and dealing with LPG cylinders using another license contrary to the law.
Milimani resident magistrate David Ndungi issued the summons after the directors failed to appear in court to plead to the charges.
However, the co-accused persons Hassan Mohamud, John Mathenge and Agostine Njuguna appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mohamud, Abdikalik Rashid and Amaan Gas Limited directors are accused that on March 24 this year at the firm premises L. P. G storage and filling station located along Sabaki area Athi river within Machakos, jointly with others not before the court, were found dealing with empty LPG cylinders.
The cylinders were of Safe gas, Pro gas, OiLibya, Hashi gas, lake gas, gas yetu, Tisha gas among others without prior written consent from the licensed owners in contravention of the law.
Theuri alone was charged that jointly with others not before court using a motor vehicle were found dealing with the above mentioned LPG cylinders without a prior license from the owners
Maina is charged with transporting the said gas cylinders which were not licensed to transport liquefied petroleum gas.
The prosecution told the court there is a public outcry on the issue of fake gases and the case should be taken seriously.
The three however pleaded with Milimani senior resident magistrate David Ndungi for lenient bid terms and were released on a bond of Sh200,000 or cash bail of Sh50,000 each.
Amaan Gas Limited directors will appear in court on April 8 to face the charges.
