A businessman was on Monday charged with obtaining money by false pretence and forgery.
Aggrey Ambani Kagwa denied all the charges before Kibera senior principal magistrate Charles Mwaniki, but was not released on bond.
The case will proceed on September 9
Kagwa was accused of obtaining medical goods worth Sh4,752,826 by pretending he was a procurement employee from a private hospital in Karen. The offence was allegedly committed on diverse dates between April 20 and May 7 last year.
He was also charged with obtaining medical equipment from Megascope Health Care Limited using forged documents and falsely pretending that the cheques presented for payment were genuine.
The court heard that Kagwa also made a fake Sh671,434 DTB bank cheque dated May 12 purporting to have been issued by the hospital.
Kagwa is said to have unlawfully and intentionally made five Standard Chartered Bank cheques of Sh3,420,457, claiming they were issued by the said hospital.
He was also charged with making five different local purchase orders, which he claimed to have been generated by the hospital.
