Two men accused of robbery with violence are being detained at Kamukunji police station for two days for completion of investigations.

The two are Moses Maina Irungu and Anthony Mugo Irungu.

Investigating officer Joshua Mwao said on the night of October 26 the accused ran to Kamukunji police station being chased by about 20 angry members of the public baying for their blood.

He said the first accused was carrying a new jembe stick.

"Police intervened and established that the accused while in the company of other three men while armed with jembe sticks and pangas attacked two workers of ATS Matatu Sacco and an egg seller at the matatu stage and occasioned them serious injuries," Mwao told the court before Principal Magistrate Marylene Opondo.

He said another new jembe stick with blood stains was recovered from one of the angry members of the public allegedly taken from one of the suspects who ran away from the scene.

He said the two were then arrested and placed in custody.

The officer said later, three victims by the names Joel Maina, Philip Ouma Otieno and Timothy Maina Irungu reported their case.

"The victim by name Joel Maina was admitted at Amana hospital with a serious cut on the forehead," Mwao said.

He said investigations commenced and only Philip Ouma recorded his statement and issued a P3 form but not yet filled by a police doctor.

The officer said the statement of the other two victims have not been recorded nor have they been issued with P3 forms for filling.

"I am unable to prefer charges against the respondents' reason being that the investigations are incomplete," Mwao said.

He said the accused person if released on bail might interfere with investigations and also may go into hiding before being arraigned in court.
