Nominated MP David ole Sankok addressing reporters at Osim Country Lodge, Ewaso Nyiro in Narok County on Friday.

An MP has asked authorities to investigate an incident in which two deaf students dropped out of school after being defiled by their teacher in Siaya county.

David Sankok called on the Teachers Service Commission, Director of Criminal Investigations and Interior ministry to arrest the teacher, failing which he will mobilise persons living with disability to hold a nationwide protest.

“I am ready to rally all persons living with disabilities to use all necessary means to arrest the suspect who is now on the run if he is not arrested in the next two weeks,” said Sankok.

Addressing reporters at Osim Country Lodge, Ewaso Nyiro in Narok county on Friday, Sankok regretted the vice has been going on for a while, adding that it has ruined lives.

“The suspect must be arrested because his details are with TSC and there is no reason why he should not be brought to book to serve as an example to would-be suspects,” he said.

The legislator called on the TSC to do an internal search and weed out rogue teachers.

“We are not asking TSC to transfer the teacher from the said school, we are asking them to arrest him and make sure he is punished according to the law,” said Sankok.

He expressed fears that the current spate of school unrest and fires could be as a result of similar acts, when students are protesting their teachers’ bad behavior.

“The teachers whom we have entrusted to take care of our children are turning out to be hyenas. This bad habit should be punished,” he said.

Sankok’s sentiments comes hours after the Federation of Deaf Women Empowerment Network-Kenya and deaf ambassadors drawn from Nairobi, Siaya and Kisumu staged peaceful demonstrations.
