President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed internal security institutions to heighten vigilance and surveillance across the country following the unfolding security situation in the region.
The Head of State gave the instructions during Friday's National Security Council meeting.
Uhuru gave the directive even as police officers put Sh50m bounty on five terror suspects.
The police put the bounty on missing terror convict Elgiva Bwire, Salim Rashid Mohammed, Mohammad Abubakar, Barigi Abdikadir Haila and Trevor Ndwiga.
Tales of Bwire took a new twist after the state announced he had gone underground and described him as armed and dangerous.
According to DCI, Bwire, either joined terror groups, including al Shabaab and ISIS, or went underground to plan attacks.
After his arrest, he confessed to being a terrorist and a member of the al-Shabaab terror group.
Elgiva attended primary school in Dandora and disappeared from home in February 2010 until a year later.
Salim Rashid Mohammed, alias Chotara, alias Turki, a terror suspect who had been charged in court but freed on bond.
Police say he had been linked to various criminal activities in Mombasa and parts of the wider South Coast.
He is said to have slipped out of the country and joined the deadly terror group Daesh, also known as Islamic State, which is currently fighting in Mozambique.
Police have asked members of the public to volunteer any information on their whereabouts.
All have been declared to be armed and dangerous.
