How my brother tricked us into using stolen money - Raila

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has narrated how he and his brother were tricked into eating mandazis and ice cream with stolen money from their father.

Raila who was speaking during the book launch of his brother Oburu Odinga said his younger brother had stolen the money from his father.

"One day my father lost money and my younger brother found it and came to where we were playing and said he had collected  money on the road," he said.

Raila said they used the money to fill their stomachs since they were hungry.

"We bought mandazis, and ice cream and soda. When dad came back home and looked for his money, he could not see it," he said.

Raila said they were summoned and asked to produce the money that they had no clue about.

"The money was not there. He asked and we said we had not seen the money. But then we told him that our younger brother had shared with us some money he claimed he collected outside," he said.

"We were taken and caned. My father asked us why me and Oburu would believe that young boy.. we were punished for an offence we did not commit."

Raila thanked Oburu for writing and releasing his book titled 'In the shadow of my father'.

"I am happy that Oburu has taken time and written his  experiences in life which will help many people.  Jaramogi (Oginga Odinga) did a lot to teach us the value of education," he said.
