Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives have launched investigations into the death of a fourth year student from Daystar University, Athi River campus.

Athi River police station detectives launched a probe after Daniel Amuge Boronjo’s body was discovered at his rented private hostel at Daystar estate on Thursday.

Amuge, 21, was a community development student.

According to a police report, the death was reported by a fellow student who resides at Cryptons hostel.

The student found Amuge lying face first.

The body had no physical injuries.

Police moved the body to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary in Athi River.

Chief government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor conducted an autopsy on the body at the private facility and issued a report to the family on Friday.

In a second incident, a form four student was found dead in Kyumbi, Machakos county on the same day.

Bonface Mutiso, 19, a form four student from Kyumbi Secondary School was found dead in his house in Itimboni village, Kinanie division within Athi River subcounty on Thursday.

According to a detective privy to the investigations into Mutiso’s death, the deceased was said to have been sick prior to his death.

“He has been suffering from asthma, high blood pressure and epilepsy according to his relatives,” the source said.

The body was moved to Machakos Funeral Home.
