Deputy President William Ruto has urged Turkana residents not to gamble with their votes in 2022.
Speaking in Turkana when he graced the sixth Tobong'u Lore Edition, Ruto asked Kenyans to assess his competitors on the basis of their plans to solve challenges affecting the country.
The DP said they should also look at their individual track records as well as those of their parties.
"I want to ask the people of the Republic of Kenya as we look into the future, we must assess all the competitors on the basis of their philosophy of uniting the people in a national political party, on having a plan on how to eliminate the challenges that face our nation and on having a track record on what every leader and every party has been able to do," he said on Saturday.
Ruto insisted that his competitors have nothing to show, except telling stories and went on to highlight some of the projects the Jubilee government has done in Turkana as part of his track record as the DP.
Turkana governor, Josephat Nanok pledged to support the deputy president’s bid for the country’s top job saying that he knows the people of his county will benefit.
The governor hit out at the ODM party saying its leadership was full of lies and bad politics.
“We don’t want those lies again, we want someone who will tell us that he will sort out our problems,” he said.
"There's no benefit there. Those running towards them should have asked me why I left ODM."
Former National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale rubbished the Azimio la Umoja convention, saying that it was an event that was set to sideline Ruto.
He stated that Raila has been drawn into the politics of deceit once again, which he suffered in 2002 when he supported retired President Mwai Kibaki and also in the grand coalition government.
"Mr Odinga, please go and learn the politics of deceit, betrayal and backstabbing. Go back to the drawing board. You thought you were building a coalition to isolate William Ruto but the coalition has been built to isolate you," Duale said.
The second in command was accompanied by Governors Josephat Nanok (Turkana), Stanley Kiptis (Baringo) and Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu).
Also present were MPs Daniel Epuyo Nanok (Turkana West), Malachy Ekal Imana (Turkana), Joyce Emanikor (Turkana), Christopher Nakuleu (Turkana North), James Lomenen (Turkana South), Mohammed Ali Lokiru (Turkana East), Aden Duale (Garissa Town) and Kimani Ichungwah (Kikuyu).
