Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka has said the One Kenya Alliance is not in a hurry to unveil its 2022 presidential line-up.

Kalonzo who is one of the Oka chiefs said the alliance will not yield to pressure to disclose its dream team in advance.

He said the alliance will ensure that it conforms with the timeliness given by the electoral commission and not political pressure.

“More so and abiding by the IEBC schedule, the nomination for the presidential election is slated to start on May 30, 2022, and end on June 10, three months to the presidential election,” Kalonzo said in a statement.

Kalonzo said the alliance will disclose its presidential flag bearer at the right time.

“As we continue to move across the country, our focus as Oka principals is not on the flag-bearer,” he said.

“Oka is currently focused on first developing a strong that will build our nation together for the glory of Kenya.”

The alliance which includes Kalonzo, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Gideon Moi has been under pressure from their rivals to name its 2022 line-up.

“To those who continuously ask that the Oka flag-bearer be publicly known let me refer them to football. Traditionally, the team line-up to play the opposition is publicly released an hour before the match starts,” Kalonzo said.

Despite fears of infighting and backstabbing over competing interests, the Oka chiefs have said they will agree on its presidential candidate.

Except for Musalia, whose National Delegates Convention for the ANC party is slated for January, other Oka principals have been formally nominated by their respective parties.

Oka has unveiled a raft of promises including a 24-hour economy, free health care and turning higher loans education board loans into grants.

They want to turn small-holder based agriculture endeavour into gold and unite the country.

“It is my fervent belief and hope that with the advent of the New Year 2022, you will place your trust in the One Kenya Alliance during the election day,” he said.
