Kenya on Saturday recorded 2,127 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 297,155, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,710 recording a positivity rate of 31.7 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 3,036,982.
The country's fatalities have risen to 5,381 after another three patients succumbed to the disease.
Kagwe said that there are 1,016 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 23,021 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Some 39 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 19 of them on ventilatory support while 20 are on supplemental oxygen.
Another 234 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 209 of them are in the general wards. 25 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Meanwhile, 1,434 patients have recovered from the disease, 1,404from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 30 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 253,715 of whom 204,590 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 49,125 are from various health facilities countrywide.
VACCINATION CAMPAIGN
As of December 31 2021, a total of 10,100,993 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 5,862,875were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were4,206,106.
Another 20,868 are doses administered to those between 15 to 18 years while 11,144 are booster doses.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 55.8 per cent.
Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 15.4 per cent.
The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
